Government should seek to improve the business environment for companies rather than pick winners through doling out incentives, Gov. Mark Sanford’s Chief of Staff Scott English tells a Dutch Fork High School class.
Government can’t keep up with the increasingly fast pace of changing technology, never mind accurately pick which company will succeed in the future. It would do far better to improve the business environment for companies so that they’re able to thrive, than trying to pick which companies might be successful through incentives, English adds.
