A South Carolina Policy Council supporter recently took these photos showing the influence of longtime Sen. Hugh Leatherman, R-Florence and chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, in the Florence area. The pictures, starting from the top left and moving downward counterclockwise, are: 1) a bust of Leatherman at Francis Marion University’s Performing Arts Center; 2) the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Science Facility at FMU; 3) the Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Advanced Manufacturing Center at Florence-Darlington Technical College; 4) the Leatherman Senior Center; 5) an interchange named after Leatherman at I-20 and I-95; and 5) the outside of FMU’s Performing Arts Center.
