Where Government Gets Exposed

Fancy Degrees

ariail fancy degreesThe University of South Carolina’s Board of Trustees recently recommended that President Harris Pastides’ “private” foundation-funded salary be increased to $504,000 per year. That doesn’t include his state salary of $290,000 per year. Combined with recommended bonuses beyond the bonuses Pastides already earns, his salary could top $1 million by 2017.

Over the last decade, tuition at the state-funded university has risen by well over 100 percent, and now stands at $10,791 per year for in-state residents. When including housing, meals, and books, that figure stands at around $20,600.
