Where Government Gets Exposed

Claws and Effect

ariail claws and effectOn September 10, 2014, House Speaker Bobby Harrell was indicted by a Richland County grand jury on nine counts of misconduct in office, using campaign funds for personal use, and falsifying campaign reports. Three weeks before, the Speaker boasted to the House caucus that the investigation had “ended.” “Those of you who have called me and texted me and emailed me and grabbed me when you saw me and said, ‘I’m for you; we know you’re a good guy; we know you didn’t do anything’ … it means more to me than I can tell … I have your commitments for Speaker, thank you very much … Let me say again, I ain’t going anywhere. I’m going to be right here. God bless you. Thanks.” He was given a standing ovation.
