An independent research organization focusing on transportation and infrastructure, TRIP, recently ranked South Carolina’s roads as some of the deadliest in the nation. The state’s rural roads are especially dangerous, according to the study. The South Carolina Policy Council, The Nerve‘s parent organization, has published extensively on the ways in which state policymakers have mismanaged road funding, neglected roads in politically unimportant counties, and prioritized expensive and needless expansions over necessary maintenance.
