Where Government Gets Exposed

Merry Christmas from The Nerve

Merry Christmas! As we celebrate the dawn of the world’s greatest miracle, may we be grateful for the smaller ones. This year, South Carolina was saved from Constitutional disaster more than once by a vigilance that is uniquely American. Sure, we as a citizenry may have taken our freedom for granted more than once. But when it comes to the rule of law we are not about to allow tyranny to prevail. This is South Carolina, and we take our government of, by, and for the people seriously. And together, we defended it.

There is so much that is possible – to become the freest state in America in which all citizens have the most opportunity to prosper, the most choice in the freest market, the most independence, and the most protection of our American Constitutional rights. It all starts with restoring control of government to the people through separation of powers and transparency. This year, we took an historic step toward that. This year, South Carolinians of all backgrounds crossed party line and worked together to ensure that we truly live in a nation of laws and not of men.

Journalists, watchdogs and activist leaders did their job to keep up the pressure for justice. And for perhaps the first time in modern history, it was our state officials who stepped up to hold the most powerful politician in the state accountable to the people.

Most importantly, so many of you stood up and spoke out. From the Board and staff of the South Carolina Policy Council, thank you to all who helped prove that Americans will always protect their liberty through vigilance and action. That has held true for more than 200 years, and it held true in 2014 in our state. In the context of human history, that is something of a miracle.

Merry Christmas from all of us!

We need your help to continue our mission of holding government officials accountable! As part of the South Carolina Policy Council, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization, we rely on donations to operate. Please consider giving today so we can keep bringing accountability to government. It’s your power, and it’s time to take it back!
