Amazon.com Director of Policy Fred Kiga discusses the breadth and scope of his company’s size, and its plans for the Midlands, including the number of individuals it plans to employ once its distribution center is up and running.
It was announced earlier this month that Amazon would build a distribution center in Lexington County’s Saxe Gotha Industrial Park. The company wants to start building the $40 million facility next month and have it up and running next fall. Plans call for a work force of nearly 1,250 by the end of 2013, plus up to 2,500 temporary jobs when demand surges.
