At the behest of the Department of Insurance, a key informant survey covering “expert” opinions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was conducted by the South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health.
In the social sciences, “key informants” are typically queried because they know a lot about the subject at hand.
Yet, as one researcher concedes, these “key informants”weren’t selected on the basis of their understanding of the federal health care law – whereas the participants of a second survey, a focus group, were informed by researchers of the basics of the law. And do we really need more opinion surveys on Obamacare?
